pollen is gross
Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 8:56AM here in atlanta the pollen is so bad some days you can't even go outside or you will die.
it's everywhere. like the kardshians.
only worse!
(but only barely)
and forget opening your windows to enjoy the coolish warmish breezes,
because everything in the window's path will be buried in yellow grossness..
including your face.
if it were in moderation it would be ok..
like a little bit of pollen is good because of bees and shit..
but not this..not risk your breathing ability and life.
(segue)
a little bit of "pollen" inside is ok so long as i am not choking on it..

see? moderation is best.

nice transition :) loving these spaces! but not pollen.
As a terrible spring time allergy sufferer, and I'm talking pothead eyes, kleenex commercial nose, zyrtec junkie, I loved this post. Finally a good spin on pollen!
ok, this post is vintage 'you' and is wonderful. it should totally wipe away any worries you have about not posting/commenting/painting your french doors. just do this every so often and we'll be real happy. donna
Glad I don't (technically) have allergies
It's bad in the A-T-L right now. I went running (well, if you can call it that) last night and if felt like I'd smoked a carton of cigarettes. I've been sporting my glasses for a week. Lovely. Great pics!
good lord, I love that kitchen.
The effin' pollen is the bane of my existence. It's not enough that spending anytime outside means a ventilator is required. No, it has to swath every exterior surface with a thick, icky slick of celadon powder as well.
On another note, that teal chinoiserie wallpaper with the beautiful dark secretary and the gorgeous rug make my eyes water. For altogether different reasons.
Last week I visited the ATL for spring break and everyone was talking about how cars turn yellow and shit when it's pollen-y. Fortunately I stayed just long enough to miss it.
On another note, do you think I can play this chaise lounge off as an antique? I'm trying to sell it on craigslist (as you can see) and I know you're an avid CL user...so I wanted your input. I'm selling it for my grandparents, who got it from an old lady friend. Should I put it up for less than $100? If nothing else, maybe it could be reupholstered?

Room #4 please, but hold the bees.
I'm adding just a wee bit of "pollen" into my mix I think. Only I'm calling it saffron and I may hate it and take it away. Thank goodness you can paint over paint, right?
your picture finding skills are good...real real gooooood.
I will take the blue chinoiserie wallpaper with the banana leaf chair and the kilim rug....not the same room but a bitch can dream!
This has nothing to do with pollen, but I thought you'd like it.

Yesterday I was looking at the CB2 website and they had something in a color they called "grellow." Green-ish yellow = grellow. I'm thinking that pollen is grellow.
good luck out there!

That roof garden is great.
What shocked me was the chair with the big leaves. The other day I was looking through the fabrics I own (some have become vintage just sitting there) and there I find like 10 yards of something very similar to this one that i had bought in 1989 !!! So did it make a come back ? or is it someone that could not care less about trends ? :)
HOLY GORGEOUS!!! These images are goooood, J. Like cracky good. I need that outdoor dining room in my life like NOW. Whoa. And the lil "poppaculla", as we say, is GOOD everywhere. I need some in my life. damn, you're good sister. Love you. X
wow... loved those rooms... i'm actually dizzy. except for the fourth image. with the purple chair and the animal prints all-over the place. I mean, it looks like some wet dream of Donatella Versace turned real with an exceptional amount of extra colors and patterns. way too freaky. but the sixth image, the ivy covered fake grassed yummy yellow chair gazebo is like holy mother of YOU KNOW! that thing is outta control. i loved it. i would get married up there. I would have honey-moon there. I would have brain surgery there. DAMN.
and that ebony armoir on the ninth picture... lovely. not to mention the yellow doors on the last one. I almost peed.
congrats. xoxo.
Love the rooftop garden, but I totally get the pollen issue. All white cars turn green in Atlanta, and forget wearing white pants for dinner on your favorite resaturant patio. Good in theory; rotten in execution. The upside is in the glory of the gardens. Pops of yellow there are as beautiful as they are in these rooms. Ah… Ah… Ah...Choo!
we've, thankfully, escaped the worst of the pollen invasion since we moved to indiana. but back home, in dothan, alabama, the pollen was like the kardashians with a nasty yeast infection.
don't miss it.
on a more pleasant note...gorgeous images!! i love the mirror with the old, smokey looking panels. would love to know how to re-create that look.
nanne in indiana by way of alabama
Pollen has never looked so good! I'm MUCH farther east and north than you and I've always looooooved your springtime posts--they give me hope.
Bees are over rated...expect for helping the flowers do it with each other...which makes the world pretty...oh shit, I just disproved myself. Awesome.
Amen. I LOVE Celerie Kemble's apartment so much. Wish I could live there but not sure she'd let me.
You are about a week or two ahead of us on the pollen....ugghh......can almost taste it now....k

Are you there?
I keep waiting for you to do a post on the Newest Housewifes ! Please... I can see you having alot of fun with a photo of the mom... do you think she went a bit too far trying to look young? you think...
I'm totally feeling a good dandelion color, have a post in draft about it actually. Did you go into my brain and steal stuff? There's not much in there, so i need that stuff thankyou.
This damn pollen has turned me into a crusty nosed mouth breather!!! sex-ay
and good grief I'm behind on your blog! I'll be here for awhile
So much to love here, I can't pick a favorite!! Yum!

Susan
