a semblance of normal especially if you live in phoenix

i am sure some of you are gonna be like, fuck jenny...just get back to cussing and pretty rooms and farts and downton.

and i concur.

that's all i want more than anything.

it's getting there.

i still have so many emails to return and i want to reiterate that if you haven't heard from me yet, i am working my way down a long list of amazing people.

slowly but surely.

i will never let you forget how grateful we are for your kindness and generosity.

this weekend is a long one- fiona off from school friday and monday.

so correspondence will be slow.

anyway..

i wanted to deliver this craigslist post that i intended for friday.

while it would make sense to do it this coming friday i am afraid that if i wait then the items i found will be gone.

and that would suck ding dongs.

plus, well....i just want life to be business as usual.

so where alaska failed in so many ways, arizona makes up for it like a boss.

phoenix, az killed it...

antique ming chair- $145.

this is pretty ya'll.

HERE.

faux bamboo mirror- $20.

this would be so perfect in a powder room or an entry.

HERE.

pair of yellow lamps- $80.

yesssss.

go get these!!!

HERE.

chinese plant stand- $150.

good stuff.

offer less.

that's kind of a ridiculous price for the list.

HERE.

the lamp person is selling some good shit.

how fantastic is this?

even the upholstery is awesome.

imagine it against a glistening chocolate lacquered wall.

$360.

HERE.

 what?

i don't have a bar or a place to put these but i wear them on my face.

$75 for the pair.

HERE.

so great.

i would put this on my porch and have lots of wine and food there.

with you.

$150.

HERE.

alternatively i would hijack those chairs for my indoor dining table.

 2 brass side tables- $35.

what's not to love?

HERE.

a whole bunch of mid cenury goodness.

$800 for everything.

inquire about splitting it up.

HERE.

tufted chesterfield- $800.

negotiable price.

also it's microfiber.

which is not leather.

HERE.

brass sofa table- $40.

handsome.

HERE.

hand painted french vases- $50.

precious.

HERE.

shiny red industrial cart.

very versatile.

great for art supplies or bath-time lotions and stuff or bar things.

$99.

HERE.

drexel buffet/credenza- $260.

how great is this?

for under your TV?  or in your dining room?

lots of storage there.

i would paint it glossy white. yep. boring but great.

HERE.

italian bombe chest- $145.

the finish is questionable.

but you could do so much with it.

silver leaf?

HERE.

delicious la barge brass coffee table- $295

i would try and negotiate that price down to 200 and then you will have scored.

HERE.

$50.

that price is for that recliner thing.

but i would def. inquire about that headboard and nightstand.

love.

HERE.

big ornate mirror- $75.

so pretty.

HERE.

perfect little parsons chair- $40.

HERE.

metal bamboo leaf lamp- $25.

cool.

HERE.

1970's nightstands- $100.

love them.

HERE.

french gold leaf bombe chest- $1200.

woah.

if i had 1200 extra lying around i probably would also have a dressing room situation and that is where i would put this.

because it's real pretty.

or it would make a spectacular desk.

HERE.

ok this yes.

for sure for sure buy this.

it's ridiculous.

$80.

HERE.

pretty good right?

next week is tuscon.

because arizona is clearly a top notch craig state.

also- downton tonight.

the last episode.

i am excited and sad.

matthew better put his meat stick in mary and make a baby.

also, and this is no joke..

i had a sex dream last night about maggie smith and some other older actress...i can't remember who it was..

but there was a 'your (wrinkly) body is a wonderland' moment between the 3 of us.

happy sunday!

Mr. McG and I couldn't wait another moment so we cheated and watched it last night. Last week's episode was actually the UK finale and tonight's episode the Christmas Special. It does not disappoint!

All I have to say is, "Do you promise?"

Xoxo

I live in Phoenix and couldn't be more excited about your finds! We have a lot of retirees here and I suspect the best stuff comes from them. They've had it forever and it's usually in super good condition. I'm definitely inquiring about those nightstands for my guest bedroom! Oh and the brass lamp - killing it!

I hate you phoenix for having all the good shit.

February 19, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterbri

ooh you found some great treasures. I have no idea why that gold lamp has not sold because it has been on there forever.

so come and visit..maybe my dream of you hand deliveing the painting can come true..and then in return I can take you to places that might make some of your dreams come true...places piled high with old cast off furniture and doo dads that are basically free..

have a great sunday!

I need that modern couch, dammit! I'd want to pay less, since I'd be making a slipcover for it. CL ATX has been teh suck lately, nothing but "dinning" tables and "expresso" finished furniture. And "rod" iron shit.

That sofa!!!! My mother lives in Phoenix but I don't think she cares, she has too much shit anyway.

Excellent finds! I love what craig has on list, but rarely have the patience to sift through it all. : ) So thank god for you! I have been reading your posts as of late and although I have not read your blog long, I am hoping everything turns out all right for you. It blows to navigate the shit life throws at us....I am stressed about our job situation (or lack of one on my husband's part)/money and I am trying to take one day at a time and keep the faith in myself/us/some kind of fate or higher power to deal with it all. Hang in there and I think we will all enjoy you no matter what you write about.

I just read your last entry. Please, please, please see a gyn oncologist now! You are correct that our gyn docs do not typically deal with stuff like this and the best plan is to have a gyn oncologist do your biopsy. They often see high risk patients. I am a 2 time gyn cancer survivor.

Oh my gosh Jenny...those comments! You're back! xoxoxo

February 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDMD

Jenny: you still got it! Despite what life deals, you always respond with aplomb, honesty, vulnerability, humor, spice, and a "let's get down to work" attitude! I would think that producing art might be a good thing in your life right now; art is so spiritually expanding and cathartic! We are minions out here, quietly plugging for you, girl. Some of us can't contribute financially, but we carry you in our hearts.

I cried all thru the last Downton Ep. Throughout the WHOLE DAMN THING.

Sounds like you're feeling a bit better !
Love these CL finds..they seem waaayyyy better than in our area, too.
Do you buy from CL out of town? Shipping kind of defeats the purpose, but man, that Chinese chair is TDF.
Have a good week.

So this is not a response to this particular post but it is just for now and in general as I commented a few days ago and then my two year old deleted it. I don't read blogs. I find many of them shallow and annoying as they say things like "I love gummy worms" and such. At the end of my insane, frustrating, beautiful day of being a mom to my daughter, I get a glass of wine and read your blog. The pretty pictures of beautiful things that aren't covered in crumbs and toddler slime remind me of me. The me that I still am under the Mom that has emerged wearing a diaper bag sitting in a circle singing Ring around the Rosie for the seventh time in a row. I want to thank you for that. Really, thank you so much. I'm so sorry about what's going on right now and as my hubby is a type one diabetic, I have a lot of love for you in that department. We really need better health care in this country. Anyways, thank you for being authentic and for posting beautiful pictures and also watching the housewives even though you are clearly an intelligent being. It makes many a day for me and I know you are going to get through this, maybe even with some sort of health insurance. (and one day, I will buy one of your paintings, I swear). xoxo

I so wish I could buy that drexel sideboard. I've been looking for something like that for ages. So happy to hear about all the love you are receiving. I can't wait to get my hands on some of your cheaper art. I was just eyeing an empty space that your art would look perfect in over the weekend at home. Love to you!

Wow, who'd have thought Phoenix's list was so good. Imagine the gold lamp on the white Drexel buffet in the same room with that couch (after it has the cushions beefed up and gets recovered).
