saying nice things without compromising my inner asshole.

i wanted to take this opportunity to give the rue girls and their efforts some golf claps.

in rue issues past i have silenced my bitchmouth over ill chosen photos.

weirdly cropped angles.

strange and not so cute houses.

editorials featuring young people in the middle of nowhere drinking tea.

but while flipping through this month's issue i noticed some changes.

#1..and most importantly...the picture selection was better.

in terms of specific style and taste, well...that is primarily to each his own..and i can't really complain too too much if i don't like a particular style of decor. (hahahaha just kidding)

but at least if you are going to feature styles that i don't like you ought to have the most amazing photo possible of said decor.

bc 9 times out of 10 it's all about the shot anyway.

a shitballs room can look 50 times better if it's photographed well.

and vice versa.

i can honestly say that there were only a few interiors that i truly loved in this issue..

but there were shots of interiors that i didn't care for so much that made me look twice bc of the photography.

so...well done girls.

here are my best...

cass lavalle's place was pretty inspiring.

i love it.

it's small and lovely and well edited and it doesn't make my eyes bleed.

she has good taste.

i enjoy this little spot of happiness.

and look friends...

it's valorie!

she inspires..

and she can mix pattern like a boss.

also liked...

just awesome.

i appreciate the balls it took to do this, but it would make my eyes bleed after about a minute in there.

pastels.

so pretty.

good job rue.

keep it up.

what just happened?

rue came out and i was excited and then i looked at it and then i think i blacked out and then i am sure i hit my head on something hard and then i had a seizure and then i caught the snitch.  and i looked in the mirror and i had a tribal tattoo on my face.

and then i started crying.

i do not understand this at all...

1. this isn't serious. is it?

2.  what are we looking at here?

does anyone have anything to say cuz i am really scratching my head here.

i don't even think i can think of anything funny to say..

other than..

2 turds walk into an apartment and design the shit into it.

no?

anyone?

but the whooooole issue was the weirdness..

i don't understand any of it really...

dorm curtains?

i mean is that the prettiest angle in the room?

the light fixture looks like a car part.

and this...

it's just the weirdest angle ever!!!

this whole issue was full of odd choices and photo angles.

this can't be the prettiest part of this room.

it just seems like someone is smoking weed and then editing this magazine.

i vaguely understood this..

but only marginally.

you?

images via ruemag

rue came out yesterday let's talk about it..

  well.

there were plenty of oddball photo shoots..

including but not limited to..

a juvenile looking bed party..

a foodless desert dinner party...

and the ubiquitous hipster feet shots..

also kelly hoppen told me i should be interested in a yoga mat and a sweatshirt..among other things..

and the interiors..

well..

see for yourself..

i just don't care about this shit anymore.

globes and etsy art?

this is cutting edge decor?

empty frames on a chalkboard wall?

i mean i get that it's for the kids..and it's cute in your house that i never have to come to...

but i don't want it featured in my shelter publications..

i need inspiration.

this is not inspiring me.

and i bet if you read this blog it's not inspiring you either.

christina strutt's place was charming enough..

i never met a cozy english cottage i didn't love..

and points for the puppy in the basket- (put the lotion in the basket)

but it was all kind of a mess.

like a visit to your grandma's house where shit hasn't been thrown away in 40 years.

 but bailey's place was delightful:

for those of you that don't know bailey she writes a very cute and funny blog called, peppermint bliss.

and her house in this issue of rue was far and away the highlight.

a glittering golden nugget in a sea of turds.

she is self taught, hugely talented and her personality comes through big time in her space.

she is also pregs and a few months ago asked me to conjure up a magical baby room for her little girl to be.

you should go look at it if you want to look at something cute..

as for rue...

i am impressed by the rue girls' tenacity and their willingness to put it out there and take a risk and follow their dreams.

but this issue screamed amateur to me. and it also felt like it was geared toward a MUCH younger, less sophisticated audience.

what did you all think?
