just some things..

green paint sample looks like exorcist vom.

i need darker. deeper and moodier.

back to the drawing board.

and..

from minty..

framed vintage guatemalan textiles.

the big one was snatched up by nelya.

the other 2 rectangular ones are all yours for the taking.

mirrored frames y'all.

for the specifics go HERE.

and finally..

get ready to explode into a million baby fat sparkle particles..

tuesday is for buying things.

so go buy some vintage guatemalan textiles.

and then hug a baby.

this post brought to you by cat vomit and the color green

so green could mean many beautiful things and in this case it partly does..

but if you live in the southeast it more than likely, for you, means the color of your boogers.

but maybe more like yellow with a tinge of green.

too much?

sorry-

it's monday and i woke up to a huge pile of cat vomit on my suzani upholstered chairs...

which means you have to undure it to some degree too.

good news though,

fiona's room is so so close to completion and it's gonna be good.

the desk is here and it looks like it was born to be in the room.

but it needs to be painted.

the color is a little different than most people would choose for a little girl's desk or any desk for that matter.

but my thinking is the room is so girly already with the purple walls and the designers guild orangerie floral explosion headboard that it needs a little muted moodiness.

here's the idea:

that's the desk that the paint cards are sitting on and that's the hardware that is already on the desk.

there is a little bench that is going to be upholstered in this:

faux ostrich vinyl.

in hot pink.

i'm dying over it.

here is a close up of the upholstery fabric:

lot's of that olive green roaming around.

i am going to pick up a sample of the green today.

then all i need is the bedskirt (which should be here this week)

then i need to take pictures.

(jesus take the wheel)

p.s.

nature's miracle is the best for cleaning cat vomit.

and the neti pot is the best for cleaning pollen vomit.

this might be the worst post you'll ever read. at the very least feast your eyes on the shittiest pictures you've ever seen.

i never intended to paint my closet.

i just wanted it clean.

it was a disaster and more than likely so bc i share it with mike.

and it's 4 x 6.

that's less than 3.5 feet per person.

and this is so not a fancy closet reveal like bailey's or jenna lyons's.

this is a closet full of elfa.

and plastic shoe storage.

but i did paint it and throw down a good looking sisal rug.

i had paint left over that i had intended for fiona's room, benjamin moore ocean spray.

which is darker and blue-er than when nick olsen used it.

my ocean spray:

with all the shit that an iphone can do (like a person named siri inside your phone answering questions) you would think that taking decent pictures would be at the top of the list of awesome qualities.

nick olsen's ocean spray:

see?

it's wasn't the right color for fiona's room but it's a perfect fit for my our closet.

let's go back to the beginning.

shit be everywhere...

yes mike had his clothes on metro shelving.

lame.

now that metro shelving holds all paints and painting accoutrements..

you have no idea how much this delights me.

unloved decor should not be in your closet.

nor should bins of baby clothes intended for goodwill.

first rule of closet club:

shit that doesn't involve getting dressed should not be in the closet.

second rule of closet club:

shit you haven't worn for an entire year should be sent to goodwill.

a highboy was brought in for mike's clothes.

it will be painted at some point.

probably glossy black.

narrowing down to just the basics and frequently worn brings us to

third rule of closet club:

cleaning out your closet means buying new basics and favorites.

and finally and most importantly..

fourth rule of closet club..

cleaning out your closet means you have more..

for lots of new basics and favorites!!

there are still things to be done from a decorative standpoint..

like a light fixture.

(mike just rolled his eyes and checked his blood pressure)

i found a little pendant shade on craigslist for 20 bucks that i am inquiring about:

and baskets..

i am obsessed with these and i cannot find them anywhere:

the round honeycomb basket..

i have looked in lots of basket-centric places..

nothing.

if u have any idea where i might find them please let me know.

in any case the closet needs more zshushing.

once it is properly zsushed i will take better pictures and present them to you.

like a blog boss should.

also-

today..FINALLY...i am going to pick up fiona's desk.

which means i am about 1 or 2 steps away from wrapping her room up completely.

happy days.

have a glorious weekend and try not to choke to death on the pollen.

i'm decorating a mansion ya'll..ok just a room.

a big ass tara-esque mansion.

lookit:

the entry.

that dining room be changing too.

the living room is just behind the stairs there..

my client is a very talented lady with plenty of designer skills.

and she is doing the rest of her house herself,

which is a MASSIVE undertaking.

she just asked me to help her with this room bc her designer eyeballs are going blind with all the other decorating she is doing.

bar area.

windows much?

a lot of wall space is scary.

this is the plan:

think english conservatory meets hollywood regency.

this mansion is on acres of southern soil and the surroundings are breathtaking.

so the outside must come in but it needs to be luxurious too.

we will bring in plenty of this:

big ass plants!!

the design:

i could have done 3 of these things with all the stuff i want to incorporate.

like art.

and fabrics.

but this gives the feel we are after.

my client suggested farrow and ball's brinjal

for the walls and i think it will be awesome!

but she is scared a little.

there are so many windows and architectural elements and light that the walls can handle such a dark color.

in fact i think it will seem less dark and make a room that could feel like a museum more cozy.

and don't even get me started on the pale mint green ceiling.

what about you?

do dark walls scare you in such a massive space?

or are you on my team?

tomorrow i am going to show you my clean closet!

aren't you excited?

lonny thoughts

here's my deal-

we wait and wait and wait and wait

for lonny.

and then it gets here and

1. it's the GREEN issue. (rolls eyes)

i like things that are green.

i like things that support other things that need supporting.

i don't use commercial cleaners, i use vinegar..not just as a deliciously gross drink but as a cleaner for just about everything in my home.

so green = good,

but "insanely proud of" and "larger than ever and jam packed with inspiration"?!?

really?

maybe i am rainman but when i flipped to the blogger page at the end i was like...

"is that it?!!"

and i beg to differ on the "jam packed with inspiration" bit.

2. i think 3 of the homes featured i had seen already..including wearstler's store.

and while all of the homes in the issue were beautiful and homes i would make out with if given half the chance..

it was still kind of a let down.

i know in this day of the blog and pinterest it's hard to NOT see everything a million times..

but to wait like 4 months or whatever for a publication to come out only to have it be filled with places i have seen is

a bummer.

3. the homes.

pretty.

yeah, i guess so.

anna burke's place gave everyone wood, and it is always nice to see a home worked out with supreme skill on a major budget..because it's just a bigger accomplishment in my opinion and more relatable.

but the rest of the homes were pretty darn blah.

all of them mashed together in their blah-ness made it all the more blah.

here's what i did like-

mixed up furniture, juju hat and diy art.

budget decorating at it's best.

though those juju hats aren't in my budget.

harrumph.

k dub's bathroom.

it's insane and wonderful.

i would be honored to leave a turd in her toilet.

yep.

fur on rattan.

unexpected and awesome.

i am obsessed with that mirror.

there was no link for it (murder laser side eye) but i think it could be an easy diy.

square shaped mirror and ceramic balls?

porcelain balls?

glue made from unicorns?

i love bunny williams's entire lamp collection for beeline home.

and while i would never pay 600 dollars for a wasp comb with some shards of glass shoved into it..

i DESPERATELY WANT IT!!!

fyi...

i have about 3 wasp combs living on my house in the summer that i will mike will gather and shove glass into.

so..what are your thoughts on this long awaited lonny issue?
