what is the opposite of hoarding?

bc that's what i've got.

i truly do not hoard anything..

ok..no, that's not entirely true.

i DO hoard everything fiona has ever put on paper.

and i mean everything.

i have a hard time throwing away even a scribble.

i am working on it.

but all the rest?

i can toss or sell something easily.

and i rarely ever miss it.

my husband is the opposite of this.

he is a TOTAL hoarder.

he still gets on to me about the time i gave our flimsy, aluminum, mismatched spoons to goodwill.

saying, "they were perfectly fine".

excuse me for wanting nicer spoons.

anyway...so yeah, sometimes i replace shit with more shit but at least it's better shit...and wait..spoons are important!

where was i?

oh yeah..

getting rid of stuff.

last year i went through my kitchen cabinets and got rid of everything we never used and really pared down to just essentials when it came to dishes and glasses/cups and even gadgets that we NEVER used.

it was great!

i highly recommend it.

although i have since had to replace glasses with more glasses but that was bc shit breaks.

but it's still free of plastic and anything ugly.

i have worked my way through the whole house over the last 6 or so months and i can say that in this house we are mostly free of anything we just don't use anymore.

(this does not include the attic or the garage..but more on that later)

i am working on fiona's room at the moment..

just giving away clothes, some toys, stuffed animals (is there a stuffed animal dumping facility anywhere? bc there needs to be.  a place where all stuffed animals can go to "retire")...etc..

anyway...it's an awesome feeling but i cannot get rid of ANY books.

like, no books can leave this house bc there are too many memories locked up inside them, okay??!!

but as you may know there is 0.00 storage in this old house so everything gets dumped in the garage.

and as you can imagine...that place is sanford and sons.

that brings me to the point of this whole post..

the garage is getting a makeover and it. is. making. me. sweat. with. EXCITEMENT!!!!

(the attic will have to wait until we move bc i refuse to go up there)

i have been pinning garage organization like a mofo.

i have been checking the weather in 10 day spreads so i can see when the 1st warm weekend will be.

i can't wait to clear the whole thing out and see it empty.

i think this is the single most important step you can take to a successfully organized garage.

i am not looking forward to the black widows i will find.

who wants to make a guess as to how many i mike kills?

getting mike on board with this clean out won't be easy or fun but there is an incentive..

he wants to hang a punching bag from a tree in the backyard so he can kick it.  and we all know that shit ain't happening.

but if the garage is nice and clean he can hang it in there.

kick away my friend.

and no, i haven't forgotten about the inside projects you project stalkers..

i will be picking up paint samples for the tv cave today so..don't worry,

we still have fun times ahead of us.

here are some martha tips for cleaning out the garage.

downton sort of.

hey all.

sorry but i don't have a full downton recap in me this week.

but i will say that i enjoyed this episode much the same way one enjoys watching a bad guy get his face smashed in with something like a flaming rocket...so like, hit with the rocket and smashed but also set on fire bc it's a flaming rocket.....but remember he's a bad guy so you reaaaalllly enjoy this act of violence.

that's how much i enjoyed this episode.

so like if the bad guy stepped on a baby duckling...but then a rocket comes out of nowhere and kills him so hard.

but in this episode lord grantham=duckling murderer with all his blustery place putting fails.

FAIL FAIL FAIL...repeat.

it was awesome.

bates is free...wait..what?

i fell asleep during those scenes.

ethel cooked some food with mrs. patmore's help which sent carson into epileptic fits.

speaking of carson..he and lord grantham are pretty much the same person, no?

they both wear suits that cut off the circulation in their necks and therefore their brains and they both hate catholics and prostitutes.

cora steals the show this week.

her bedroom scene with lord grantham was heartbreaking.

what else?

mrs. patmore gave us the cliff notes for the downstairs storyline.

"the trouble with you lot is you're all in love with the wrong person".

the best scene of the night though was for sure mrs. crawley's luncheon.

the ladies in black shut lord grantham down.

poor bastard.

OH! and daisy will be the heiress to william's father's farm.

how great for her.

she'll be like a hipster organic farmer making cheese and shit.

and then of course granny getting dr. clarkson to lie to cora and robert about sybil's chances.

how did you feel about it?

i mean i got it...she felt they needed to grieve together and they couldn't do that if cora was going to blame robert forever.  totally true.  marriage over.  but it was still a lie.  no matter how unmusical a word.

it felt like a way to mask the truth to save robert yet again.

and totally off subject...

but this....THIS..

should be banned.

it is off the chain good.

i mean it needs to be thrown in the trash after 1 spoonful bc after that it's just going to be a problem.

and no one will be better off for having this in the house.

no one.

do not eat this stuff unless you want to know what heaven tastes like, which..who does? yuck.

room temperature please.

not that you will ever find out bc you are NOT going to buy this.

i love this house

as i sat on the pooper the other day looking through past elle decors (totally normal i know)..

i revisited the september 2010 issue and i realized i really want this house..

while the idea of walls of windows is probably most people's windex nightmare it is my windex dreeeaaam.

plus in my next house i want all modern.

no molding and less things.

as it is now i have the opposite of that.

which i am really ok with bc that is beautiful too.

but next time...

this is the house i want.

i would totally change some of the decor throughout, but mostly i'll take it as is.

while it is practical i am so not down with resin furniture.

mostly i am just dying for some mid century architecture.

this house does a good job and mixing traditional and mid century with a bit of asian in the decor making it warm and inviting and very friendly.

happy monday!
