just a few of my favorite things...

clockwise: every girl needs a leopard coat- leopard coat 1 / leopard coat 2 / or a teddy coat- camel teddy coat / rose pink teddy coat / party dress - i love this flirty, ROOMY, bejeweled frock. 

clockwise: the beginnings of a beautiful room- smoky rose wallpaper / velvet sofa in blossom / navy pleated lampshade / wool rug /  plank coffee table 

clockwise: a masculine dining room- alloy dining chair / pine expandable dining table / crosshatch wallpaper / waterfall chandelier / wool shag rug in huckleberry - what an unexpected and delightful color. 

clockwise: i speak from experience here- kitchenaid artisan stand mixer / le creuset round french oven -the bigger the better. / wusthof 8" chef's knife + paring knife / japanese mortar and pestle -i have a regular one but this is the one i would choose if i were buying again. the bottom is ridged for better friction. grind those spices! muddle that mint! / potato ricer -i use mine all the time. / mason cash mixing bowl -you can never have too many of these.

 

 

and not on sale but my favorite nonetheless...

l to r: if i could stick to one beauty brand for the rest of my life aesop would be it. at this time it's a once in a while treat. i have never been disappointed in a product. fabulous face oil -this stuff is made of angel tears i swear to god. buy it and then use it for doing this to yourself. it is indeed a wonder for your skin, especially this time of year. smells amazing. / parsley seed facial cleansing oil -fabulous if your skin is combination and dehydrated. smells amazing. / rose hair and scalp masque -ugh. anything rose. have not tried but i aim to. / rejuvenate aromatique body balm -this is not inexpensive. but it is such a treat. also, sandalwood and vanilla. / geranium leaf body scrub -best body scrub i've ever used. the scent is beyond.

this year we are hosting a friendsgiving the first week of december. 

this is where my head is at-

my favorite white dinner plates from west elm...they have an irregular shape that i love.

they are enormous too. perfect for piling up all that food you fatty. 

 

 

 this pale gray border stitch cotton tablecloth would be pretty. white seems too formal and i tend to like the plates to contrast with the table. i typically don't love tablecloths preferring the wood of a perfectly aged farmhouse table instead. which, if i had i would totally go with a tea towel or placemat underneath instead of a tablecloth. 

 

these washed linen napkins in plum will play nicely with this amethyst transferware platter. 

 

 do yourself a favor and buy all the cb2 marta tumblers you can because they are perfect for everything;  wine, water...holiday sangria. 

 

i likes to serve the desserts on the frou frou frilly lady parts plates...the ones your grandmother loved the best generally do the trick. the more mismatched the better. i think vintage is best, but anthropologie does a nice job with quirky dessert plates. 

 

i have been snatching up pretty mismatched silverware at junk shops for about a year now for this very occasion. anthropologie also sells them. 

 

this year, instead of candles, i am going to try a long strand of battery operated holiday string lights down the center of the table. fewer sleeves on fire but all the sparkle. 

so reckless. pray for me.

did i mention i was making holiday sangria?

 

and finally, every table needs a tiny wooden pinch bowl full of maldon smoked sea salt. 

so much more ree-fined than shakers.

art inspiration: imbi davidson

today's artist is relatively new to me, as in only discovered a few weeks ago. 

but her work is so beautiful i had to tuck her away in my inspiration folder (not creepy).

her name is imbi davidson.  

"Imbi Davidson is a visual artist currently living on the east coast of Australia. She is a painter, drawer, mark-maker & intuitive explorer of surfaces on any form of material. Her work penetrates the landscape of the soul, giving resonance to its form, pattern and history. Imbi recently completed her Masters (Vis.Arts) researching the visual representation of native plants in Australia."

for me her work is luscious and moody and makes me feel like i want to crawl up in it. 

specifically her series titled The Lost City
