friday things

JENNY ANDREWS January 11, 2019

my fave from the golden globes. i have no idea who she is other than she’s rami malek’s gf.

THE CUTEST dress from tibi marked way the F down.

i love this idea. also love her kitchen backsplash.

did you know madewell had a home section? i didn’t. i love this card game. i love all the card games. they’d look so good stacked on a mantel.

really into this $80 sweater from mango. into the pants too.

guys….sephora now carries the ordinary. let’s recap my faves:

this - for dark circles and puffy under-eye. only when needed. i have re-ordered this 3 times.

this - for dullness. i use this most mornings before serums, moisturizer and makeup. i have re-ordered this 3 times.

this - i press this into my skin on the nights i don’t use retinol or vitamin c. it’s lovely. bit of an “earthy” smell but my skin loves it. and i am textbook combination skin. also very soothing after a mask. have also re-ordered 3 times.

this - this is the vitamin c i use when i can’t afford this one. it’s a good stand in but the drunk elephant is still my favorite.

the gooper’s new line of workout wear is good. particular faves are this bodysuit, and this bra.

could not love this house more.

oh look a sale

JENNY ANDREWS January 8, 2019

i’d like this to be my go-to look this summer. wrap skirt, t shirt, athletic shoes. fanciful head accessory maybe too.

net-a-porter is having quite the sale. including a few perfect skirts to achieve this look.

this zebra print from ganni, this gingham from jcrew, this bright red orange by malene birger, this silky satin tobacco colored vince number, and this pretty pleated skirt from vince.

other sale items i have my eye on-

these adorable yellow espadrilles. into this rosy pair too. ok the red are great too.

these sam edelman ankle boots are a steal.

these APL running shoes are laceless, light as a feather and bouncy.

this rattan and leather belt bag. the other day i was wishing like crazy i had a fanny pack. this one is really stylish.

this pink poplin shirt which is so spring-y and cute.

this ganni corduroy blazer which i have posted about at least 3 times. possibly more.

this snazzy isabel marant sweater.

and this super statement alexa chung oversized sweater.

check everything out here.

january vibes

JENNY ANDREWS January 6, 2019

inspired by vacation.

a little rattan mini bag cuter than a baby’s buns.

a cotton gauze jumpsuit for strolling through your vacation without your holiday bod on high alert.

they say shell inspired jewelry won’t be making a come back this season. fuck them. shells forever. in your house and on your person.

this RMS bronzer is easy to use. i spread a little in the hollows of my cheeks, a swipe down the bridge of my nose, a dab on each eyelid and a blur at the top of my forehead. i then fan it all out with a blurring brush or blend it in with a beauty blender. like the sun kissed you i swear. powder bronzers are the worst on winter skin.

i’m new to the work of kathleen jones but i just love it. so quirky and cool. she’s adorable and funny to boot.

i’m into these logo converse. don’t @ me.

don’t tell anyone but i’m feeling a pull toward chinoiserie. but ONLY a smidge. like this classic wallpaper but paired with white painted wood floors, a modern wicker sconce, an african beaded chair, and fanciful cocktail table. and not shown but in the interest of imagining the ultimate space, a curvy modern sofa.

the drunk elephant babyfacial will take your skin off. in a good way. really does what it says it does. so if you have dry, winter skin you might want to invest in this stuff.

and an evil eye pillow to ward away the negative and look cute in the process.

new year new perfume? this one smells like grapefruit, orange blossom and iris and that sounds just perfect to me.

and a snazzy little cocktail set to get you psyched about pending porch drinkin’.

snuggie perched where he shouldn’t be on christmas eve

hello

JENNY ANDREWS January 2, 2019

i never intended to be gone this long i swear. but it felt good to not blog while i ate everything and drank everything over the holidays. maybe it was the way my muffin top folded over my pajama pants while i sat at the computer. maybe it was the way it felt REAL good to lay down in my bed sideways, drooling onto my pillow while i scrolled through instagram logging in about 6 hours of screen time a day. also it rained a lot in december. and i turned a year older. and so did fiona. and christmas. and ugh. oh! and my computer broke. so i am working on my old computer which is the reason i got the other computer so, yeah, it sucks too. all this complaining to say that we have reached january 2019 and i know i’m in the minority here but i low key love january.

i love the way the trees look. like veins. i love the darkness and fog. i love the hope january brings. it’s when i am most inspired.

trees at dusk in my backyard

i think of all the things i want to do and make happen. it’s a time for manifesting and planning. a time for resolving to make changes and just generally making things better. it’s the truest month for self care.

my mind on you & raspy little voice hanging above my sofa

i am thrilled to be inspired to paint again. i was so uninspired and unmotivated for so long. that’s another blog post entirely but let’s just say a lot of it had to do with not knowing what i wanted to paint or how i wanted to paint and feeling like everyone was copying everyone else and i didn’t want to be a part of that. i needed to step back and listen. and then practice practice practice.

display case

it feels good to be excited about creating again. i can’t wait to get back to it after the winter break. and to say that is really something because honestly for soooo long i wanted to set fire to everything i’ve ever done and pour all my paint down the drain. i have learned, FINALLY, that it’s all about the process. words i have heard countless times and understood for sure but never aligned myself with the truth of it. it clicked recently and it’s helped me SO much.

fiona’s birthday brownies

finding all your flaws

there’s a purity to january. a second chance-reborn-starting over kind of thing. it’s why resolutions are made. i am looking forward to a new year. but am really trying to lean into the process of everything. what did 2018 teach me? that’s the question i am seeking the answer to. because i just don’t think 2019 will be better for you unless you examine what made 2018 so rotten.

some things i’d like do/change…

  1. take solo walks in nature. i just don’t do this enough. this alone will make a HUGE difference in my mental state. i practically lived in the woods as a child and it’s where my imagination was at it’s peak.

2. instagram stalking. this addiction is out of hand. i don’t stalk one person per se. i think i just generally fall down rabbit hole after rabbit hole after rabbit hole. and not only does this suck up a lot of my time it doesn’t do much beyond making me feel like i’m not as good as or good enough or pretty enough or young enough. and how is that a good thing? comparison is the thief of joy and all that.

3. get back on the IF train. that was a crucial component to my best self over the summer.

4. marie kondo more. everything from my cookbooks to my garage is on the list.

5. paint like it’s my job again.

and of course i am kicking off the first week of january with a no sugar no booze cleanse.

what about you? what are you changing?

friday things

JENNY ANDREWS December 21, 2018

i’ve added a few oil pastels to my shop. go check em.

not much else to report this week. other than i’m obsessed with this little cocktail bar at the base of the rockies. seriously, scroll all the way down to see it lit up at night from the outside.

also, who doesn’t love amy sedaris? here’s her apartment tour. the real magic begins when she starts using her pointing stick.

i found the perfect teddy coat and it’s on sale.

the best chicken salad.

a not terrible shower caddy. comes in black too which i like a lot. i mean when’s the last time you saw a shower caddy and thought, hey…that’s pretty good?

ok then. have a great weekend!

december vibes

JENNY ANDREWS December 18, 2018

never mind that december is more than halfway over. or that i have only bought ONE present. just never mind okay? it’s been mostly cold and dreary here for the better part of december. a fact i don’t mind all that much. something about the fog and gray sky and the brown trees without leaves is really beautiful. it surely inspired this year’s december vibes.
