let admiral minty charter your [house] boat this summer..

because let's face it..

#1. that's the worst blog title you've ever heard in your life

#2. minty has some new and well priced nautical inspired goods

and

#3. just admit it..

nautical/beachy/coastal

done right is one of your favorites..

i enjoy it.

and since i am the mother of dragons you do what i say.

or i will tell my dragons to 'valar morghulis' you.

i am so aware of how lame that last sentence was.

but since it's summer i have been reduced to bad hbo puns, even worse blog titles-

plus i dropped a cooler on my toe yesterday and i woke up with a roach in my hair.

friends, that is TEXTBOOK first monday of summer material.

if you are also suffering from summer/monday brain..

this might help..

i am aware that fiona's internal mouth hole looks like one of those movie monsters where their mouth

stretches beyond what is really their mouth just before they eat your face off.  no bath salts even needed.

i'm sure it's not an accident since all that has come out of her mouth has been the stuff of nightmares.

anyway...

say it with me..

"i love nautical shit!!"

chloe sevigny has a nautical inspired powder room.

monsters and zombies

guys, i am alive today but just barely.

i fell asleep at about 4:30 and woke up at 7:50.

that is some bullshit right there.

no sleep is the worst feeling in the world.

like punch all the babies in the world in their soft delicious smelling stomachs worst.

like kick all the kittens and puppies of the world down a well and listen to their screams worst.

the anxiety compounds the existing anxiety of why you couldn't sleep in the first place with more anxiety..

so it's anxiety squared.

so..i am a totes zombie today with the black eyes and stink of no sleep.

trying not to heave this coffee all over my keyboard..

it's only fitting that i present you with more monsters in the monsters art series circa summer 2012 .

all pieces are on heavy weight, linen finish paper.

holla if you're interested.

have an awesome weekend everyone.

a house will speak to you if you listen..

and sometimes it will whisper.

help me...

the house yesterday didn't blow me away...because, well....it's not that great.

let me rephrase that..it's a great house it's just not amaaaaazing.

but with our budget and my tastes i suspect this is as good as it will get.

the house is cute.

small and cute and the best part about it is the yard is nice.

we are not good yard keepers.

so a place for fiona to run around without stepping on a fire ant nest or uneven ground makes me happy.

there are other pluses...3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a place for me to paint, an office in the basement for mike...etc..

the interior is a little strange.

built probably in the 40's it's got a lot of interior walls with "windows" to other rooms in them.

plus it has rooms added on (a family room and the master)..

which means buttass carpet in those rooms.

ideally i would knock down the wall between the kitchen and family room and have it more open.

oh..and yes..this one we would buy, not rent.

obvs.

i am getting ahead of myself here but this is the direction i see this house going in..

because let's face it..

a house DOES dictate it's decor.

at least to some degree.

or at least to me.

white.

i know.

so boring.

but it goes beyond that.

i want clean lines, modern, but relaxed and cozy.

not a lot of shit.

just books and cool lamps.

that's what the house told me to do.

in other rooms...

it should be noted that i HATE those bird curtains and blinds. and i would remove the sunburst. but the rest is just the thing.

so restful.

somehow i want to marry all 3 of those bedrooms.

i don't think it can be done.

the wild cards..

i love the monochromatic element and the loungey den feel.

the perfect cocoon for watching tv.

which is all we ever do.

i love the baseboards.

and the blue.

so see..

if i were to put all those together it would be the perfect house for this house.

if i were to give it a name i would call it "fuck you it doesn't need a name".

today

today..

we are going to look at a house.

and it's not actually terrible looking!!

ok the inside is pretty terrible looking ( thanks to MLS pictures) but thankfully it's only 40 gallons of paint away from being not terrible looking at all.

think dijon mustard trim and ketchup walls.

think beadboard cabinet fronts (top and bottom) (painted dijon mustard yellow) with mix-matched glass colored knobs.

but the bones are great and it has been well maintained.

the front looks a lot like the house up there.

 well, it could.

fairly easily.

so fingers crossed for us.

in other finger crossing news...

i have my 409th drop dead diva audition today.

let's go ahead and book it this time, k?

also, have any of you been watching girls on hbo?

you should be.

it's fantastic.

thanks for snatching up my paintings so fast yesterday.

more monsters are coming..

to EAT YOUR FACE OFF!

4 things...because i just don't have time for 5.

i don't have much time (*half-day camp this week) so i need to get right to it...

#1-

design star.

didn't watch.

looked at the first 3 pictures and saw a kardashian then quickly lasiked my own eyeballs with knitting needles.

i figured they were probably deciding on the best place to hang a chandelier decal and that's too much for me to take on a monday.

#2-

endorphinate..

hmmm...

so far i don't think it's worth a shit.

#3-

i saw moonrise kingdom yesterday and cannot recommend it enough.

#4-

i am rethinking mint walls for my bedroom.

reason:

my bedroom is dark and i fear that the mint would never look mint but instead like a hospital.

discuss...

*half day camps are half assed. what the fuck am i going to accomplish from 9 AM to 12:30 PM?
