yesterday i painted those.
today i paint this-
and yes, i will paint the vent grate.
accomplishing things feels accomplishy.

there are a fair number of you out there that think that big ass pee wee herman leather chair is uglier than miley cyrus's tongue but let me assure you that that is a MAN chair.
and a crazy, retro, buttery-soft leather one at that.
and i've loved it since i first saw it.
so just do me a favor and get on fucking board with it already.
so this is my latest vision for my living room.
the truth is i haven't had much time to decorate my house.
i get started on a project (paint much?) and i have to let it take the back burner to work work work.
like a bee i work.
i'm a one woman worker drone bee with queen tendencies.
and a tight budget.
the good news is the walls are almost done.
my mother in law is coming over tomorrow to help with the shitty part of the job..the windows and doors.
after that it will be totally finished.
the lamps, side tables and rugs are all mine.
the art is a 1stdibs vintage piece by the artist miette braive.
i'm sure it's 40,000millionbillion dollars, but i love the colors so much.
i will paint the perfect piece for my room using these exact colors.
the sofa is meaningless, other than the fact that i want something dark and deep and modern.
i sat on this sofa the other day and realized that it's my dream sofa.
but it's WAY too big for my house and WAY too expensive for my budget.
i believe it's $8500.
although i would buy it in a heartbeat if i had it bc it was that comfortable and that cool.
i mean i would take everything out of my room but that sofa and my tv and be happy.
anyway..
it's not in my near future so the hunt continues.
the tv sideboard/buffet/credenza/search continues too.
i like the lines of this one and i like brass hardware...so it works.
but i am so open here.
because this one is also out of budget.
and the coffee table is a stand in as well.
i have a lucite waterfall at present and it's not really big enough but i aim to put all the other pieces in place and see with my eyeballs what the room needs before i look for the coffee table of my dreams.
so i really really plan on finishing this room all up very soon.
on another subject entirely..
have you been stalking new york fashion week via instagram and shit?
i have.
i have been pinning fashion-y things like i were a fashion blogger.
i have bookmarked at least 5 new to me 20-something fashion bloggers.
which for a 40 year old is such a SUPER realistic thing to do.
in fact for a second i thought i might become a fashion blogger.
then i realized this is what i wear on a good day...and i am usually in my bathroom taking pictures of myself.
seriously though...where are all the 35-45 yo fashion bloggers?
send them my way.
i need tips from people who look like me.
ok then.
see ya later.
i haven't been on the blogs today so i have no idea if everyone is blogging about this but i was really excited about the prospect of some new F&B colors.
but then i saw them and i was like....that's it?!
first i was like...oh stiffey (stiffkey) blue is amazing...
can't wait to see the rest..
here's the rest:
i do like stiffey blue (stiffkey whatever).
and think it would be so amazing on a home exterior.
this one's called gramma rose.
just kidding it's called nancy's blushes.
it's pretty.
but nothing i am tempted to paint my walls with.
and i love pink.
st. giles blue.
pretty.
but it's really really bright and i might go blind after a few months of this on my walls.
i could see it on lower kitchen cabinets with black marble countertops and brass hardware.
mole's breath.
yes to this.
this color is gorgeous and would be so beautiful in place of the mainstream grays you see all over the place.
every single color you put with it would pop.
it's got more edge than basic gray.
i prefer brown grays to true grays and definitely to blue grays.
wevet.
a good white.
that looks nothing like the image below it!
i am considering this one for sure for my keeping room.
with black blue trim.
dimpse.
another good white.
(bc F&B just didn't have enough whites)
ammonite.
another..good white.
pubic stone.
just kidding it's purbeck stone.
and surprise!!!
it's another white.
i'm sure they are all amazing and awesome whites that in person and on the right walls are likely
worth every penny..
but i was a little disappointed overall.
i thought they desperately needed a brighter green.
and some richer purples and deeper pinks.
and some swampy blues.
but there was this..
yellowcake.
the name is the best bc it reminds me of all the times i came home from school and made a boxed yellow cake
only i ate all the batter before i could bake it.
you did that too right?!!
anyway, i actually love this yellow and am thinking this might be in order for fiona's next semi-makeover.
bc i can't get enough of this..
and i don't typically even like yellow.
so what are your thoughts on all the new colors?
or how little of a fuck do you give really?
yes you read that right..
i have mouth herpes.
i will spare you any images (though if you follow me on instagram you surely saw it).
suffice it to say fiona asked me why i had a glob of peanut butter on my lip.
i had nightmares that i would wake up and one of my cats would be nibbling on it.
i used to get them frequently as a kid (always at school picture time)
and then intermittently throughout my 20's and then maybe once every 3 years?
well, this is one of those years.
apparently.
i've run the gamut of treatments in my time and sometimes you catch it early enough that a little tea tree oil straight does the trick but other times you lose the race and for those times..
i think i have truly found the winner.
the expensive winner.
it's honey.
specifically magical manuka honey from new zealand.
obviously hobbits made it with shire bees.
i cleaned the festering wound up with some witch hazel and a wee dab of the honey and that shit improved in less than 24 hours.
there's your derp advice of the day.
now let's move on to some things that are equally important but far less gross..
lonny came out and it was good.
i won't lie..
the last few issues with the new team have been less than awesome for me.
just a big fat 'MEH' overall.
but it seems this issue showed us that they've got their shit together after all.
anyway..
some highlights for me were..
a sneak peak of one of the new farrow and ball paint colors...stiffkey blue.
imagine a whole house exterior painted this color..
SICK!
and..
i very much enjoyed seeing jacqui getty's house photographed anew.
even though i've seen this house a dozen times it is awesome enough for a round 2.
so long as the pictures are fresh and there is some new decorating going on what do i care?
i love that she took a restaurant supply shelf (above) and added a piece of wood on top for more surface area and storage space.
pretty things on a surface.
(someone needs to do a tumblr with that title and have it just be pics of that)
this just makes me happy.
and this porch off her bedroom and those shoes on her person.
and this...
this little betsy burnham feature where she gives us decorating advice in little speech bubbles.
even though a lot of it is old news to most of us it feels very domino..
and SPEAKING OF DOMINO!!!!!!
yesterday instagram and twitter blew up over the news that domino mag is returning as a quarterly mag.
and from my understanding they will not be re-hashed old issues but real-new-glorious content.
the best part?
michelle adams is on board.
you can read more about that here.
and finally..
i will be absent from the blog until next week for as to finish up a long line of commissions..
here is a sampling..
this thing is 40 x 60 and it's part of a tryptich.
my client has a very big wall to fill.
the other two will be plum, aubergine, gold, and pink and pale neon orange with some peacock blue added for good measure.
ok then.
happy september and stuff.
i am not above it.
happy labor day.
spend some of your hard earned cash on some good deals.
anthropolgie has some really good ones.
here are a few of my favorites..
this guy is cute.
and he went from $298.00 to $97.46
there are several colors to choose from.
this is good looking.
could be a desk or dining table i think.
and it comes in other colors.
was $898.00 now $299.96
just cute.
was $20.00 now $7.46
was $348.00 now $149.96
love this in an entry or on a buffet or chest of drawers in a dark hallway.
so good in a feminine bedroom.
was $398.00 now $134.96.
that's more than half off so for less than the old price of one you could have 2.
i just enjoy this wallpaper.
not sure where i would use it.
the obvious choice would be a child's room but i could see it in a powder room or even a dining room.
carry on un-laboring.
unless you're giving birth and then LABOR ON!
