abstract glory in the living room

amidst client commissions i commissioned a painting for my living room and i love it.

i wanted something colorful with a nod to abstracts of the 70's..

doesn't it look awesome against the dark walls?!

my sofa does not look awesome.

we continue to hunt for the best sofa/bed that fits in our budget.

no easy feat let me tell you.

since we're discussing this room let me go ahead and give you the full update lest you think i am just a lazy decorator who can't complete a project.

the tv wall still needs to be painted bc i can't seem to convince my husband that it's more important than football on a sunday.  (a giant flatscreen has to be removed from the wall and all the cords need to be dealt with and i don't have a credenza yet so the idea of taking it all down and putting it back over the janked up table with basket full-o'-cords doesn't appeal.)

soooo....there is still no credenza for under the tv and i refuse to reveal this room to you without one.

i have a lead on something pretty much perfect but it's at an estate sale.

in tennessee.

and i am still waiting to hear back the details.

so basically i got nothing.

i will make do with the sofa and dress her up with pillows until the right one shows itself to me.

we also need a good man chair.

my dream chair is out of our budget for a chair and more like our budget for a sofa.

but i aim to make an offer on it anyway and see if they take it.

has anyone ever done that?

on 1stdibs?

i'm afraid a hand will come out of the computer and slap me on the mouth.

it will be wearing a white glove though and probably barely hurt.

and last but not least i am saving my pennies for my dream rug.

so basically this room will be done in 2017.

and for you..

a few more paintings are available in the shop.

here's to friday and the weekend.

i am leaving for LA tomorrow where it is hotter than the sun's surface and i am not pumped about it.

LA?...yes!  90+ in the valley?...no.

follow me on instagram for all the details.

get on me: black on black

i wear black like it's my job.

i have to make an effort to buy things that have color in them.

that's not to say that i don't like colorful clothes, i do..

but black is easy and i like easy.

when you go black on black on black it's even better.

it's says fuck you i'm cool in the chicest way possible.

it also says funeral.

but whatever..

| beanie with sweet bow | dress | sunnies | red-orange lipstick | platform pumps | tights | patent croc bag | simple gold bangle |

black can get in my house too..

| wallpaper | lamp | kitteh | chair | cerused cabinet | scent sphere |

who doesn't need a scent sphere?

well, i do.

or rather i need one to put in mike's bathroom for his m'oop, after'noop and all other daily poops.

kitchen of the day

i normally don't go for interiors photos with people in them however adorable they may be..

but i still get googledy gobby over this kitchen.

the palette is so up my damn alley.

happy monday.

rooms, eyebrows and a good cause

 first up..

some gorgeous interiors i've been hoarding on my desktop.

what is it about all white rooms that makes me so drooly?

also i can't get over the tiny chairs.  in a good way.

just a pretty shot.

my dream bathroom.

i could get ready for parties at downton in here.

john derian.  bow down.

for me it's all about the pottery party on the table.

i love a good pot'ry party.

i also love a good, round dining table.

basically this room is weird and wonderful.

it also tells me that the person living here has a lot of money.

speaking of weird and wonderful..

we are discussing eyebrows.

we are not discussing the way my lip hangs as if i have had a stroke.

maybe i HAVE!!!

maybe that's my problem!!

the truth is that it's a scar from when i was 7 and i stepped on my skateboard as i bent to pick it up and it flipped back up in my face and busted my lip open.  #badass

 or..

i stroked out and didn't even know it.

nope we are discussing eyebrow growth.

ladies...

listen to me.

stop plucking.

no...really. altogether full stop.

for around 2 months.

at which point you can pluck the strays that are way down your brow bone...almost to your eyelid.

you won't be needing those you monster.

the idea is you want to aspire to these ladies..

meet your eyebrow inspiration-

kelly oxford

and..

cara delevingne

they are eyebrow hotness.

here's the bottom line ladies..

fuller eyebrows make you look younger.

once you have them grown out go and get them reshaped by a pro.

and then never ever pluck again.

(only the ones way down the eye..you know the ones i'm talking about..the ones that say.."hey..i'm gross"...  just like the ones growing on your left nipple right now)

there really is no real science to this..

just stop plucking and let that shit grow free.

the only thing i did in the THREE MONTH PROCESS OF NOT TOUCHING..

was grab a scissor and comb the hairs down toward my eyeball and then snip the ends of them.

be careful here though.

stab stab.

and invest in a good eyebrow pencil/filler.

i use this one and i like it a lot.

and now for the good cause part of this post..

alzheimer's sucks a dick, right?

in fact it is my worst old age nightmare fear.

i can't think of anything more horrifying for both the alzheimer's patient and the family of the alzheimers patient.

as we age isn't it all about the memories?

your family?

your grandchildren?

well fuck me if i lose my mind and can't remember any of that shit.

and until today i had never heard of sundowning and now i hate alzheimer's even more.

my friend katharine, of the blog southern bourbon mountains's mother is suffering from early-onset alzheimers and is walking to help end this horrible disease.

please read her post on her mother's struggle and how she is coping.

and if you'd like to donate, like i did, you can do that here.

ok then.

grow your brows and end alzheimer's.

that's a tall but satisfying order for the weekend.

you can do it.
