kitchen of the day and a fresh start
i came across an image of this kitchen in the latest veranda magazine.
i don't know why but it feels like it's laughing at me and my 80's kitchen (with its cabinet doors that are held closed with rubber bands).
it's just so pretty.
even the refrigerator is painted.
this is about as far as i would ever go in the mural department.
and if you told me you were going to do this i would snatch that paintbrush right out of your goddamn hand.
but i love it.
it seems extravagant yet attainable.
it's like being inside a delft teacup.
it also seems timeless...like it could have been painted 100 years ago or yesterday.
what are your thoughts?
(in all honesty i'd probably be sick of it in 5 minutes)

**update- if you yourself are a private instagrammer i will need to strongly consider your request. i'm sorry for those of you who genuinely have good intentions but it's a pretty big risk to take when i am trying to weed out the assholes. perhaps a personal email to me would help. i KNOW! i'm the worst. but lately i've just been too sad about it and i don't want to feel that way anymore.

chintz
in my mind chintz has always been fabric with some big ass flowers on it. but technically a chintz is just a cotton printed fabric. glazed or unglazed. i'm not sure why or how glazed chintz ever became the rage. because gag. but i will not deny that the anglophile in me really really wants some chintz on some things.
chintz typically feels at home in these fancy settings but i'd like you to expand your horizons a bit with me for a second. because i hear you squawking like an angry goose through the internet about chintz being too 80's or too granny or too fancy for you...
oh, look at that. beach chintz.
retro modern chintz.
nuevo estilo chintz. (spanish bohemian chintz) (i make shit up as i go).
eclectic chintz.
eclectic meets contemporary chintz.
modern farmhouse chintz.
rich hippie chintz.
vintage chintz.
and more...
there might be some glazing going on here. but those sconces.

dalston rose by house of hackney. a bit like pyne hollyhock (another favorite) but less.
chantilly by colefax and fowler.
bowood by colefax and fowler. obsessed.
midnight garden velvet by house of hackney. an entire sofa please.
fairhaven by jane churchill. gosh i love this simple chintz. it's not overly decadent. it's just right. i could see this upholstered on a modern bed.

buy some already chintzed up items..
that peacock-blue queen headboard is only $300. and it is gorgeous. i could see it against even deeper blue walls.
and those mid century chairs are a steal too.
or just get a damn chintz pillow.

hope your weekend was awesome. have to say the highlight for me was watching the tour de france go through the part of england i was in last year at this time. it could have been old people rolling wheelchairs through there and i would have watched.
those dales in the summer are pretty spectacular. one of my all time favorite painters thought so too.
